McAuliffe Center Open House: STEM Resources for Educators, Oct. 29

The Christa McAuliffe Center at Framingham State University will host an open house for K-12 educators and administrators on October 29, 4PM to 7PM, to present its educational resources including:

  • Brand New, Full Dome Digital Planetarium
  • Challenger Learning Center Space Flight Simulations
  • NASA Educator Resource Center
  • Professional Development Workshops
  • STEM Certificate Program

Resources of the McAuliffe Center include:

Engineering Design Process Workshop — Saturday, November 2, 8:30AM-3PM.
Educators work as teams to develop solutions to an engineering problem using the steps of the engineering and design process. Hands-on activities are geared for the middle school student.   Methods to encourage and develop creative thinking, the communication of ideas both written and verbal, and team cooperation will be discussed.  $50.  Register by email to awalker4@framingham.edu or online at www.edpworkshop.eventbrite.com

Voyage to Mars is a 2-hour educational simulation for students in authentic mock-ups of NASA’s Mission Control Center and a futuristic spacecraft interior.  The mission emphasizes academic skills while engaging students in teamwork, problem solving, communications, and decision making.

Oasis in Space is the latest presentation in the McAuliffe Center’s full-dome, digital planetarium.  (See trailer.)
