On days when students are not in school, either for breaks or teachers’ professional development programs, Empow Studios offers one-day Nanocamps to enable kids to create a project from start to finish in one day. They might be working on video-game development, animated films, or interactive robots. Separately, Empow Studios is still open for registrations for its Fall classes and clubs.

Boys & Girls Club Seeks Paid, Part-Time Instructor for 3D Printing
The Boys and Girls Club of Newton seeks to hire a part-time, paid facilitator/instructor to teach kids the basics of using the TinkerCAD program using the Club’s classroom space and brand new Dremel 3D printer, with the instructor’s own programming. Men and women who are passionate about fostering skills with youth in the Newton community are encouraged to apply. The course will be at the Club on Fridays, 4PM-5PM, from now through May. Newton HS Student Offers Free Science Experiment Club for Grades 3-5
Sidnie Kulik, a junior at Noble and Greenough School (and graduate of Peirce and Day) has created Science and Kids and will offer a monthly science experiment club for students in Grades 3-5. The club will meet for one hour a month in Auburndale. Email sidniekulik8888@gmail.com for details.
Innovation Institute: Register for Fall Courses
The Innovation Institute (TI2) in Newtonville is now enrolling students in ages 5-17 for its 18 fall courses. Courses meet weekly, either after school or on Saturday, in three trimesters through the academic year, September-June. They are small and led by scientists and engineers who are committed to TTI2‘s inquiry-based, hands-on, student-focused approach to teaching and learning. Its curriculum is focused on developing critical and creative thinking, drawing on research in STEM education and cognitive development while remaining complementary with curricula of schools in the greater Boston area. Limited needs-based financial assistance is available. TTI2 is a 501(c)(3) non-profit and welcomes contributions to further its ability to offer this assistance and extend its reach in underserved communities.

The Auburndale Community Library is offering a course called
STEM is for Everyone! Math and Science is Fun! on Mondays, 6:30PM-7:30PM. It’s for students in ages 6-8 (accompanied by an adult), and it’s taught by a 7-year-old with her parents’ help.
