Transportation YOU Boston: Virtual Summit Oct. 17
WTS-Boston, MassDOT, and the MBTA are hosting an online program, Transportation YOU Boston Summit, on October 17, 9:30AM-12:30PM, to introduce girls in ages 8-18 to a wide range of careers in transportation. The event will include remarks by industry professionals and interactive workshops simulating real-life projects. Registration is open until October 2 OR until 100 are registered. The Mass. STEM Advisory Council is working with organizations across the state to offer seven design challenges for schools and after-school programs to undertake for Mass. STEM Week, October 19-23. iCode Explands Fall Classes, both Online and Onsite

MIT CodeIt: Free, Online, Beginning Programming Class for Girls/Nonbinary Students, Grades 6-8
MIT CodeIt is a free programming class taught by MIT students for middle-school girls and nonbinary students who have little or no programming experience. Last spring, CodeIt met in person at MIT, and this fall it will meet online over Zoom on Sundays 2:30-3:30PM and Wednesdays 7-8:30PM, October 4 through November 15. LigerBots Offer Second Info Night for FIRST LEGO League, Sept. 23
On September 23 at 7PM, Newton’s high-school robotics team, the LigerBots, will offer a repeat of their recent FLL Info Night for parents, guardians, and potential coaches to learn about FIRST LEGO League (FLL). FLL is an annual robotics competition in which students in Grades 4-8 form teams of 2-10 to program and build a LEGO robot while solving related engineering challenges in a friendly, cooperative atmosphere. The LigerBots encourage parents to talk with their children to see if they’re interested, as FLL is a great opportunity for all. Newton Boys & Girls Club: Out-of-School STEAM Programs
This fall, Newton’s John M. Barry Boys & Girls Club is focusing its in-person out-of-school programs for elementary students on STEAM learning and activities, offering two half-days and three full days to match students’ school schedules under the NPS hybrid model.
