Registration Open for “e” Inc. Summer Science Discovery, Ages 6-12
“e” inc. — Boston’s environment science learning and action center — will offer two summer science discovery programs for students in ages 6-12 at the Charlestown Navy Yard (114 16th Street, Room 1030). Each session is limited to 35 students and runs one week, 9AM-3:30PM daily, with after care available until 5:30PM. For more information, call 617-894-3409.

Kids 4 Coding: Weekly Summer Programs In-Person and Virtual
This summer, Kids 4 Coding will offer fun, engaging, and collaborative programs on a weekly basis, both in-person and virtually. A $50 discount is available until March 31.
- Weekly In-Person Programs will be offered July 11 – August 5 at Roxbury Latin School and the Cambridge Matignon School. Cost per week is $349 for half-day (9AM-Noon or 1PM-4PM) or $649 for full day (9AM-4PM).
- Virtual Summer Courses with live instructors, one-hour sessions, and small classes (5:1 ratio) will be offered weekly (plus some in two-week courses), June through August in age groups 7-9, 8-9, 9-10, 10-12, 11-13, 12-14, 13-14, and 13-16.

Oak Hill MS MathCounts Team Places 6th in Statewide Competition
LigerBots Reach Semi-Finals at FRC Northeast District Competition
Newton’s city-wide high school robotics team, the LigerBots, debuted their 2022 robot, Prometheus, at the FIRST Robotics Competition New England District North Shore Event at Reading Memorial HS this weekend. The team was thrilled to place 3rd out of 40 teams in the Qualifying rounds and become captain of the Second Alliance team, which reached the semi-finals in the Playoffs. The LigerBots will compete again next weekend at the New England District Greater Boston Event, March 25-27. Grades 9-12: Reserve a Spot Now for Harvard Splash!, Apr. 23-24
Students in Grades 9-12 can sign up now (until noon on April 17) to reserve a spot — first come, first served — for Harvard’s Splash! — a weekend of free, online classes taught by undergraduates. This year, Splash! will run virtually on April 23 (10AM-12:15PM) and April 24 (1PM-3:15PM). Registration will begin on April 18 for all those who have reserved a spot. NSHS Sophomore Qualifies for USA Junior Math Olympiad
Newton South HS sophomore Elena Baskakova has qualified for the USA Junior Mathematical Olympiad (USAJMO) — a 9-hour essay/proof examination offered to the top 250 students in the AMC10 competitions run by the Mathematical Association of America. Elena placed in the Honor Roll of Distinction (top 1%) in AMC10 and scored well in the invitation-only second round, the American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME), earlier this year. She is a member of the NSHS Math Team and a participant in MIT PRIMES Circle studying Probability Theory. She competes with Western Mass ARML teams in high school tournaments. Her ARML Stars team placed 11th in the Girls in Math at Yale competition and placed in the top 30 in HMMT February.
HMSC: Amazing Archaeology Fair, Mar. 27
Harvard Museums of Science and Culture will host its Amazing Archaeology Fair on Sunday, March 27, 1PM-4PM, at two museums: Peabody Museum of Archaeology & Ethnology (11 Divinity Avenue) and Harvard Museum of the Ancient Near East (6 Divinity Avenue) in Cambridge. It’s free with museum admission, which is free on Sundays but requires advance reservations, which are limited in number. Masks and proof of vaccination or negative Covid test are required.
