Newton Free Library STEM Programs in May
The Newton Free Library offers several STEM-related events in May. For each, space is limited, and you must pick up tickets 15 minutes beforehand at the Children’s Desk.

Olin College Spring Expo, May 8 and SCOPE Summit, May 9
Each spring, Olin College of Engineering holds two public events to showcase the work of its students:
- Olin Spring Exposition, May 8 (10AM-3PM): First-, second-, and third-year students present their projects in poster sessions, oral presentations, and artistic performances. The list of presentations and performances will be available on the expo site the week before the event, but you can see last semester’s list here. Register by May 7. - SCOPE Summit, May 9 (9:30AM-3:30PM): Seniors present the results of their year-long, corporate-sponsored Capstone projects via rocket talks and poster sessions. Register to attend.
BU’s STEM Pathways: Dinner & Dialogue, May 10
STEM Pathways — a Boston University/MIT outreach program for synthetic biology — will host its spring Dinner & Dialogue at BU on May 10, 4:30-7PM to “bring together teachers and administrators with the region’s STEM outreach programs, universities, industries, and resources for impact discussions and networking.” The organization seeks input to ensure that high-school graduates have access to synthetic biology programs at Boston University and MIT, and that industry has a workforce that is skilled and technically competent for projected needs. STEM Pathways: One-Day Summer Training in Synthetic Biology for Grades 10-13
STEM Pathways — a Boston University/MIT outreach program for synthetic biology — will host three one-day Training Sessions in Synthetic Biology this summer for students entering Grades 10-12 or freshman year of college. The sessions will be held 10AM-4PM on May 27, June 10, and June 24 at 610 Commonwealth Avenue in Boston. Register online at least two weeks before the Saturday session you select. Bunker Hill Community College STEAM Summer Enrichment, Ages 8-14
Bunker Hill Community College will offer its STEAM Summer Enrichment Program for ages 8-14. No experience is necessary. Six one-week courses are offered in two sessions defined by age: 9AM-Noon is for ages 8-11, and 1-4PM is for ages 11-14. Register online.

NuVu Studio will offer four summer programs in Cambridge and one in Scituate:

Empow Studios Adds Another ‘Coding Club’ Session
To respond to demand, Empow Studios in Lexington has added an earlier session for its weekend Coding Club for Grades 2-8 and expanded capacity in other weekend classes. The Coding Clubs meet Sundays at either 11:30AM-1PM or 1:30-3PM in Lexington.
Call for Presenters for MAST Conference, Nov. 2-3
The Massachusetts Association of Science Teachers (MAST) seeks proposals for presentations at its annual conference, November 2-3 at the Regency in Boxborough. Applications are accepted online until July 25 and will be reviewed starting May 31. Topics for the conference are:
