The Engineering Encounters Bridge Design Contest, formerly the West Point Bridge Design Contest, is an Internet-based competition for middle school and high school students to engage in a realistic introduction to engineering. It’s sponsored by Engineering Encounters, the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Army Educational Outreach Program. High-school and middle-school students (individually or in teams) compete in two separate contests but use the same downloadable software and follow the same schedule, with rounds ending May 2, May 30, and June 27-29. Rules and registration are online. Note: Teachers can set up a local bridge design contest in their classroom or school.
