The Newton Free Library has acquired a 3D printer — a MakerBot Replicator 2X — and will hold 3D printing events throughout March, as part of its STEAM program (that’s STEM with an A for Art). NewtonSTEM contributor Kevin Osborn has been named the Library’s Maker-in-Residence and will host the following events:
Wednesday, March 5, 7PM: What is 3-D Printing Anyway? Interactive demonstration and lecture.
Tuesday, March 18, 2-4PM: 3-D Design Workshop for Kids Interactive workshop for students in grades K-5 (adult companion required for those under age 8). Space is limited. Register online (starting March 4) or by phone (617-796-1370) or email (jmalmberg@minlib.net).
Thursday, March 20, 4-6PM: Making Things in 3D: Design to Print (for teens) Use computer-aided design software to design 3-D objects and then print them using the Library’s new 3D printer.
