FIRST LEGO League (FLL) needs a few more volunteers — engineers, scientists, teachers, or other STEM-focused adults — as judges for the FLL tournament at Newton North HS on November 17. FLL is a competitive STEM program where students ages 9-14 compete in a robotics and research project competition against teams from all over the state, country, and world. The tournament will host 34 teams and will run from 8AM to about 3PM and has proven to be a fun and rewarding experience for the judges as well as the students. For this year’s event, “Senior Solutions,” the challenge relates to improving the life of senior citizens.
Contact Greg Koker at fllnnhs@gmail.com or 617-969-0577 if you want to volunteer for any of the following:
- Technical judges to evaluate the teams’ robots, programs, and strategies
- Project judges to evaluate the teams’ research project presentation
- Core values judges to interview the teams to evaluate their teamwork and other FLL core values such as gracious professionalism
- Emcee of the FLL Idol program, which allows the teams to show their project presentation to the public and other teams
