The Governor’s STEM Advisory Council’s Operations Board announced today the @Scale Initiative to endorse current STEM projects that:
- Address specific performance gaps in the goals of the Massachusetts Statewide STEM Plan (PDF) and
- Have the potential to scale up for statewide implementation.
Projects that receive @Scale Endorsements will be listed on the STEM Pipeline website so that potential funding partners may seek more detailed information and solicit proposals from project leaders for specific scale-up initiatives. Project leaders will then directly engage funding and implementation partners to establish coalitions for implementation.
The first round of @Scale Endorsements will be for projects with demonstrated success in addressing either of these specific gaps:
- Students interested in STEM majors and careers, but only “nearly prepared”
- Students prepared for STEM majors and careers, but only “nearly interested”
Subsequent rounds of endorsements will address other gaps.
The Phase 1 application deadline is 5PM on May 17. Projects that pass initial screening will be invited to apply by June 6 for Phase 2 screening. Endorsements will be announced June 23.
There will be two informational conference calls to respond to questions: 8AM to 10AM on May 11 & 12. See the application process for details on the calls. All Q&A from the calls will be posted in the application FAQ (PDF). For more information, see the MA Dept of Higher Education’s page on eligibility, application process, and application documents.
