Newton Free Library: STEM Events in October

The Newton Free Library offers these STEM-related events in October:

  • October 15:  cuSTEMized, 2-4PM, all are welcome but focus is on ages 4-8.  Imagine, explore, and color with cuSTEMized coloring books featuring STEM careers.  Talk with female scientists about how the brain grows, curing cancer, and other topics.  Visit cuSTEMized.org for info.  Register online. (cuSTEMized is a non-profit organization founded by Harvard students to support girls in STEM through personalized STEM-related motivational books and posters that encourages girls to envision themselves in STEM careers and outreach events to connect girls with women in STEM fields.)
  • October 19 & 26:  CodeCampKidz, 7-8PM, grades 6-7.  Introduction to coding, with no experience necessary, but bring earbuds or headphones for audio instruction. Registration required.
  • October 27:  STEAM Ahead, 4-4:45PM, ages 3-5.  Storytime.  **
  • October 27:  3D Printing Workshop, 4-5PM, grades 7-12.  Registration required.
  • October 31:  HexBugs, 4-4:45PM, grades K-1, accompanied by an adult.  Create habitats in which to race your HexBug. **
