Boston Globe Forum: Building the Talent Pipeline, Jan. 25
The Boston Globe will host a free, interactive forum on the effects of STEM education on the workforce talent pipeline, January 25, 8:15AM-9:30AM at the Microsoft NERD Center, 1st Floor Conference Room, 1 Memorial Drive, Cambridge. Register for free online. Panelists include:

Google Launches Worldwide Science Fair 2012
Google, in partnership with CERN, The LEGO Group, National Geographic, and Scientific American, has launched the second annual Google Science Fair — the world’s largest online science competition. Students aged 13 – 18 from around the world are invited to ask questions and answer them through science experiments. They then have a chance to win once-in-a-lifetime experiences, scholarships, and real-life work opportunities. Follow the Google Science Fair page on Google+ for updates, tips, and inspiration, and check out videos on the Google Science Fair channel on YouTube, including one on how to enter. Projects are due by April 1. Here are the official rules (PDF).
Last year, more than 10,000 students from 91 countries entered. Here’s a video of a presentation by the three young women who won last year.
NNHS and NSHS Teams to MA Science Olympiad, March 17
Both Newton North HS and Newton South HS are sending teams to the Massachusetts Division C state-wide competition for the national Science Olympiad, to be held March 17 at Framingham State College. Are any Newton middle schools sending teams to the Division B competition, on the same date, at Assumption College in Worcester?
